Happy Friday from Literacy Connexus y’all! I hope that this blog post finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying your spring break. Today, I am sharing a short and sweet warm up activity idea for those post break lesson plans.

After break, we’re warming up with WORDLE!

If you haven’t heard of Wordle, it’s a word game that taking the internet by storm. Wordle is a word game that gives users 6 tries to guess a random five letter word. While it isn’t specifically made for ESL students, and may be a little hard for low level students, there is a website that lets you create custom Wordle puzzles!

This can be a great way to have students warm up and review unit vocabulary in the morning. Have students guess the wordle using the custom link and then write a sentence with it to demonstrate understanding of the word’s meaning.

Excited? Me too! So, how does it work?

  1. Go to mywordle.strivemath.com
  2. Click “Make your own wordle” at the top
  3. Enter in any word from your vocabulary list!

Easy as pie!

Will you be wordle-ing with your students this Spring? Let us know in the comments.

Until next time, blessings and happy teaching!
